Station Review #132: Marshall Road (SEPTA)

Image
Marshall Road is a station on SEPTA's D2 Line. The station is located at Marshall Road in the Garretsford neighborhood of Upper Darby, PA.  Tour The full station There's not much here of note. This is essentially a trolley stop in the middle of a residential area. Most of the people who use this live nearby.  Outbound shelter Bench The outbound shelter is very small. This is common for a lot of SEPTA D1/D2 stations, or really a lot of tram/trolley/streetcar stations in general.  Outbound platform from the inbound platform Inbound platform, with outdated signage advertising the "102" Inbound bench The inbound shelter is larger, but not by a huge margin. Still, it's enough that multiple people can actually have shelter at once in the rain.  This is typical for many older D1/D2 stations as well. This shelter was probably made in the early 1900s, considering that many of those stations...

Station Review #130: Mannheim (Metra)

Image
Mannheim is a station on Metra's MD-W line. The station is located at 10324 Front Street in Franklin Park, Illinois. Tour The entire station Yes, that's just about everything. Everything .  Bench A system map  Weird container   This container to the side of the shelter holds salt, I believe. I'm not entirely certain.   The shelter from behind Average basic signs, every regional rail operator in the US has something like this at at least one of their stations.    The crossing   In order to get to the eastbound platform ,  you need   to use this crossing, This crossing is completely unsigned and has no lights of any form, so if you aren't paying attention you  will  get ran over by a train.    The eastbound platform   It' s not like the eastbound platform is any good, anyways. There is no tactile strip, ...

Station Review #129: Delawanna (NJT)

Image
Delawanna is a station on NJT's Main Line. The station is located at the intersection of Oak Street and Delawanna Avenue in the Delawanna neighborhood of Clifton, NJ. This station is mostly served by NJT's Main Line. A select few MNRR Port Jervis Line trains a day stop here as well.  Tour What is this, MARC?     Delawanna station is completely inaccessible and has a low platform, one that's even worse than some SEPTA stations. There is no tactile strip at the end of the platform.    The platform itself is just asphalt. The tracks are above it, and there's a fence in between each track to stop you from crossing.  Inbound shelter   The shelter for the inbound platform looks kind of like a dog house.   Other inbound shelter, which is literally a bus stop shelter Signage   This signage is very bad, but I'll touch on that later.   Ramp   This ramp meanwhi...
