Station Review #17: Thorndale (SEPTA)

Image
Thorndale is a station on SEPTA's Paoli/Thorndale line, in fact it's the western terminus. The station is located along US-30 in the village of Thorndale, itself in Caln Township, PA.  Tour Train at Thorndale Thorndale station is on a hill, meaning that there are stairs and a ramp to it, shown below.  Both sides look about the same, they both have a ramp, and stairs and both have the same exact station shelters. Side of one of the station buildings On the inside of each shelter, there are three benches, and not much else.  Outside the shelters, there are also benches, as shown below Behind that, there is a giant parking sea for the station. I doubt you need this much parking for a station as small as this in a town as small as Thorndale. Why is there this much parking? This amount is expected for a large plaza, not for a train station!  Seriously? Gallery  ...

Station Review #15: Roslyn (SEPTA)

Image
Sign Roslyn is a SEPTA train station located in Roslyn, Abington, PA, on the Warminister Line. The station is located along Easton Road, right outside a railroad crossing, and the intersection of Easton road and Susquehanna road.  Tour of a Greenhouse Not dated at all! While going down a hill on Easton Road, you spot this building. Immediately upon looking at it, the look of the building itself intrigues you. Depending on who you are, and your tastes, you think this building is one of two things, beautiful or hideous. It's not in the middle, this building is very divisive.  The station is on the side of a large hill off of Susquehanna road, a road that is fairly scenic due to the sheer amount of hills on it. You can tell this just based on the giant hill behind the station (and the Giant store as well).  The view behind the station Going to the station itself from Easton Road, you see a wooden staircase, like the one somewhere like Phil...

Station Review #14: Wilmington (Greyhound)

Image
Schedule changes on the door Greyhound has a bus station in Wilmington. It's not the largest bus station that they've had, but at least it still exists. Let's look around inside! Tour Side of the building. The outside of the building is made to fit in with the rest of the Furness Transit district, anchored by  Wilmington (Amtrak/SEPTA) . Thus, it attempts to look like it's made of red bricks, failing miserably at doing this upon closer inspection. To enter, you must go to the other side of the building.  Going inside the building, you enter to see a large number of chairs, and not much else. There is a vending machine or two, bathrooms, and an American flag, and that's all you get. There is so much empty space here. Greyhound didn't even add a TV, or anything similar for waiting customers.  Much of the area you wait in Ad for the Greyest Hound on the window of the Greyhound waiting station Rest of the s...

Station Review #11: North Philadelphia Station Complex (SEPTA/Amtrak)

Image
Map, it's all spread out a bit The "North Philadelphia Station Complex" as I call it is a group of four stations within the vicinity of Broad and Lehigh, in Philadelphia, PA. I would put these into one review but I would not be able to due to the limitations of this platform, so instead it will be a four part series.  There's a reason this is happening now, and not in September when I visited the stations, one you will quickly understand. Maybe you already understand it with some background knowledge.  Until then, safe travels, everyone!  Update: Here are links to all of them!  North Philadelphia BSL North Philadelphia CHW North Broad North Philadelphia Main Update #2: There are plans to replace all of this with a much better station. I hope they happen
