Station Review #14: Wilmington (Greyhound)

Image
Schedule changes on the door Greyhound has a bus station in Wilmington. It's not the largest bus station that they've had, but at least it still exists. Let's look around inside! Tour Side of the building. The outside of the building is made to fit in with the rest of the Furness Transit district, anchored by  Wilmington (Amtrak/SEPTA) . Thus, it attempts to look like it's made of red bricks, failing miserably at doing this upon closer inspection. To enter, you must go to the other side of the building.  Going inside the building, you enter to see a large number of chairs, and not much else. There is a vending machine or two, bathrooms, and an American flag, and that's all you get. There is so much empty space here. Greyhound didn't even add a TV, or anything similar for waiting customers.  Much of the area you wait in Ad for the Greyest Hound on the window of the Greyhound waiting station Rest of the s

Station Review #7: Mattapan Station (MBTA)

Image
PCC Trolley at Mattapan Station Mattapan Station is the southwestern terminus station for MBTA's Mattapan Trolley. The station is located in the southern portion of the Mattapan neighborhood of Boston, immediately north of the Neponset River (and thus north of Milton).  History The old station in 2006, before renovation.  Credit to Frank Herbert for the photo Mattapan station was made in the late 1920s and opened on December 21st, 1929 . The station used this stone depot for many years until 2006 or so when the new station was built.  Station Tour View from Mattapan Station Mattapan Station has shelters with benches, as well as shelters without them. The architecture style is similar to  Temple University Station (SEPTA) , but only specifically with the bench spacing and the general resemblance to gas station canopies. The station also has two bus loops, for all of the bus routes that either deviate to or terminate at the station.  I'd write

Station Review #5: Allegheny Station (SEPTA)

Image
Allegheny Station is a SEPTA train station located on 22nd and Allegheny, in the Allegheny neighborhood of Philadelphia. This station is the southernmost station on the Manayunk - Norristown line that us unique to the line, as North Broad also serves the Lansdale - Doylestown line. Allegheny is a Zone 1 station.  Train at the station Allegheny Station is located on the side of an overpass, and this means a lot of things for the station. More specifically, a good train station on the side of an overpass would not only have the good views that stations of this type are known for, but need more features for accessibility.  22nd and Allegheny 22nd north of Allegheny The sign from above For what it has in views, this station does not make up any of that in terms of accessibility. In order to get to the station, you have to take two fairly steep staircases (one for northbound, one for southbound). There is no ramp. And to make every

Station Review #3: Eddington (SEPTA)

Image
One of the smaller signs at the station, as larger signs do not exist there. Eddington station is a regional rail station on SEPTA's Trenton line, located in the small town of Eddington, PA (itself located within the much larger Bensalem Township). Eddington is also one of the worst stations in SEPTA's network, and once you visit, it's not hard to see why I say this.  More about the station A more specific answer to where this station is, is that Eddington station is located on Street Road, at the Street Road exit for I-95. This location is also the start of the station's issues. Map of the location of the station As anyone looking at this blog post can tell, this train station is extremely hard to reach, even worse if you were to walk to it. If you were to start in the rest of Eddington (upper left hand corner), and tried to get to the station, you would need to cross an exit of Street road, go up a staircase that's extremely easy to miss, c
