Station Review #164: Newark Transit Hub (DART)

Newark Transit Hub is an important station serving many DART bus routes in Newark, DE. The station is located between Delaware Avenue and Main Street.  Services These buses go to Newark Transit Hub:  DART 6 - Kirkwood Highway: This bus goes from Wilmington Transit Center to Newark Transit Hub via Kirkwood Highway. This is one of the most used buses in the DART system. The 6 runs every 20 minutes or so for most of the day.  10 - Wilmington-University Plaza-Newark: This bus goes from Wilmington to Newark Train Station via Christiana and many other places. This is by far the slowest of the Newark-Wilmington buses. The 10 runs every 30 minutes to hour or so.  33 - Christiana Mall-Newark: Wilmington Transit Center to Newark Transit Hub via Christiana Mall. This is the fastest of the Wilmington-Newark routes. Scarborough Road Park and Ride is a DART bus station located on Delaware Tech Drive and Scarborough Road in Dover, Delaware.  Available buses Three buses go to Scarborough Road Park and Ride, these include: 112 - Del Tech to Dover Transit Center: This is the only local bus that uses this park and ride, providing local service to multiple areas of northern Dover. This runs about half hourly to hourly six days a week. 301 - Wilmington to Dover: This is one of DART's Intercounty routes, which are essentially intercity buses operated by the state of Delaware instead of by a seperate company like Greyhound. This bus goes along DE-1 and US-13 between the two cities of Dover and Wilmington. This runs hourly on weekdays and only a few random Saturday trips.  302 - Middletown to Dover: This is another Intercounty route, this one going between Middletown and Dover. Wilmington station is a train station located in Wilmington, Delaware. Wilmington both has Amtrak intercity trains to destinations along the northeast corridor (or really, for the other trains that use the northeast corridot to go to places like New York City that only stop there  because Wilmington is the largest city in Delaware) and SEPTA local trains going northbound to Philadelphia or southbound to Newark, Delaware.  Wilmington Station is one of 8 stations in SEPTA's network that also have Amtrak service, a moniker shared with 30th St, Ardmore, Cornwell Heights, Downingtown, Newark, North Philadelphia, and Trenton (this will become 9 when Coatesville station service opens).  History The old station that the current station replaced Trains have been going to Philadelphia and Baltimore via Wilmington for decades before the current station was built, seven to be exact.
