Station Review #131: Vineland Transportation Center (NJT)

Vineland Transportation Center is a bus station located near Landis Avenue in Vineland, New Jersey. The bus station is served by NJT, and is the primary station for CATS, the transit system for Cumberland County, New Jersey.  Services CATS bus There are a lot of services that run to Vineland Transportation Center CATS Almost every CATS bus runs to Vineland Transportation Center. These include: Landis Avenue X-Press (LAX): This is a bus that goes from Vineland Transportation Center to Bridgeton via Landis Avenue, serving Norma and Rosenhayn on the way. This bus only runs three trips a day per direction, during rush hour only. Millville Area Connector (MAC): This bus is a loop, linking various parts of Millville to downtown Vineland, including Vineland Transportation Center, as well as a large produce market. Chelten Avenue is a station on SEPTA's Chestnut Hill West line, located on Chelten avenue in West Germantown.  History Chelten station in 1916 Chelten station was created by the Pennsylvania Railroad for their rail line to Fort Washington/Whitemarsh in 1884 or so as "Germantown station" but was renamed to "Chelten station" to distinguish it from the Philadelphia and Germantown railroad's Germantown station. Not long after this, A branch to Chestnut Hill was made, which had three new stations, this branch quickly becoming more popular than the branch to Fort Washington itself. Chelten station quickly became a very popular station, as Germantown itself was a popular destination where many lived, (and still do live). Sometime around 1916, the Pennsylvania Railroad started a project for grade separating the line at Chelten Avenue itself, as this area had high traffic. Fern Rock Transportation Center is a station that serves multiple SEPTA services located in the Fern Rock neighborhood of Philadelphia, PA.  History The old Tabor station, 1972 The history of Fern Rock Transportation Center is really the history of three different places becoming one: Fern Rock Station, Fern Rock Yard, and Tabor Station. In order to understand the history of Fern Rock Transportation Center, one must understand the history of both of these places. Tabor Station Platforms Tabor station was a train station along the Reading Railroad's Bethlehem Branch, immediately after the famed Wayne Junction station. It was built sometime in the early 1900s, near the now (mostly) nonexistent Tabor Junction. This was the intersection between the Reading Railroad's Tabor Branch and the North Penn Railroad.
