Station Review #133: Oshkosh-Downtown Transit Center (Amtrak/Go Transit)

Image
Downtown Transit Center is a station along Amtrak's I-41 Thruway bus line in the downtown of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The station is also the main hub for Go Transit, the main transit system of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. This is a different Go Transit than the one of Toronto, Ontario.   Very little about the history of this station is known, past that it was rebuilt in 1994, and that an office was built in 2018 or so.  Services Back of the transit center There are many routes that go through here, these include: Amtrak Amtrak runs the I-41 Thruway bus, a bus that goes between Milwaukee and Green Bay via the Fox Cities ran by Lamers Connect and through-ticketed on Amtrak. Two trips a day are ran in a specially branded bus, while one other trip is in a Lamers Connect bus. That makes six trips per direction total. This bus connects to Amtrak at Milwaukee Intermodal and Milwaukee International Airport. Coach USA/Van Galders Though the Van Galders bus company, Coac...

BARTA Transportation Center is a station in Reading, PA. The station is located on Franklin Street, near the old Reading Train station History The old station, now a brewpub and transportation museum There had been passenger rail service at Reading since 1871, when the Wilmington and Northern trains started stopping at a station on front and Penn Streets. Franklin Street station is the one pictured above. The original station at Franklin Street was constructed in 1884, and replaced by the Reading Railroad in 1930. This station was built as an infill for Downtown Reading, since the Reading Outer station was in the middle of the city.  The line changed owners many times until it eventually got to conrail, which allowed SEPTA service on the line. Trains ran here through to Pottsville and Philadelphia until 1981. The Pottsville line was one of the earlier lines to experience cutbacks that many other lines did as well. No trains ran here ever since.  The BAR...

Charles W. Dickinson Transportation Center, also known as Pottstown Transportation Center, is a bus center located in downtown Pottstown, PA. The station is served by Amtrak and PART buses. History Pottstown was originally a train station on the Reading Railroad's main line, with service between Pottsville and Philadelphia. The original station was built by the Pennsylvania and Reading in 1867, and was only torn down and rebuilt in 1928.   Pottstown station saw service up until 1981, when SEPTA cut back service to Norristown due to a lack of funding for more diesel trains to run with their electric trains in more far flung areas. In 1984, the station building was added to the national register of historic places.  At some point, the bus berths near the former train station started getting called Pottstown Transportation Center. Years later, the station was renamed to Charles W. Dickinson Transportation Center, after Charles W. Dickinson, the founde...
