Station Review #164: Newark Transit Hub (DART)
Newark Transit Hub is an important station serving many DART bus routes in Newark, DE. The station is located between Delaware Avenue and Main Street.
Services
DART
- 6 - Kirkwood Highway: This bus goes from Wilmington Transit Center to Newark Transit Hub via Kirkwood Highway. This is one of the most used buses in the DART system. The 6 runs every 20 minutes or so for most of the day.
- 10 - Wilmington-University Plaza-Newark: This bus goes from Wilmington to Newark Train Station via Christiana and many other places. This is by far the slowest of the Newark-Wilmington buses. The 10 runs every 30 minutes to hour or so.
- 33 - Christiana Mall-Newark: Wilmington Transit Center to Newark Transit Hub via Christiana Mall. This is the fastest of the Wilmington-Newark routes. Ir goes on the highway from Wilmington to Cheistiana Mall, moving to Chestnut Hill Road after. This bus runs about once every 30 minutes or so.
- 46 - Newark-Glasgow-Middletown: This bus runs from Newark Transit Hub south along College Avenue/Summit Bridge Road to Middletown. Trips run hourly to half hourly on weekdays, hourly to bi-hourly on Saturdays.
- 53 - Delaware City DMV-Newark Transit Hub: This bus runs alonh Wrangle Hill Road to Wrangle Hill Park and Ride. There are 8 southbound trips a day and 7 northbound trips. All trips are timed incredibly inconsistently. This bus is weekdays only.
- DART Connect: This is a microtransit system you can take around almost the entirety of Newark, DE. Vans come approximately once every 15 minutes or so, depending on other circumstances. I believe this is weekdays only.
Other
- Cecil Transit 4-Elkton/Newark Connection: This is a bus that links Newark Transit Hub, Newark train station, and People's Plaza in Glasgow with multiple points in Elkton. This bus comes once every 90 minutes, weekdays only.
- University of Delaware Weekend North-South Express shuttle: University of Delaware operates multiple shuttles around Newark, DE. Only this shuttle actually runs to the transit center however. One bus comes about once every thirty minutes. I'm not certain you can take this if you're not a UDel student.

A good view of the transit center without any buses
The transit center has a lot of basic amenities: benches, a shelter, a countdown clock, etc.

These are pretty useful and nice to have, I wish more transit agencies had these
