Station Review #190: Convention Center (MDTA)

Convention Center is a station on MTA Maryland (MDTA)'s Baltimore Light RailLink line. The station is located at the rail line's intersection with Pratt Street, itself very close to Pratt and Howard Streets. Almost all Light RailLink services serve the station.

Tour

This station is pretty much the average tram station. There's not all that much to it of any important note.

Bus Connections

One of the things Convention Center does well is bus connections. These buses stop at the station:

  • 54 - State Center to Hillendale or Carney: This bus runs along Harford Road about once every 30 minutes.
  • 76 - CCBC to Downtown: This bus runs via Wilkins Avenue to the southwest to Community College of Baltimore County. The 76 runs an alternating schedule of a bus every 15 and every 30 minutes.
  • 91 - Mondawmin to Sinai Hospital: This bus seems to run along Eutaw place (among others) between Mondawmin and downtown Baltimore, running every 33 minutes.
  • 94 - Fort McHentry to Sinai Hospital: This bus runs between Fort McHenry, at the edge of Locust Point, and Sinai Hospital via Falls Parkway and Howard Street. Buses run every 35-49 minutes.
  • 120 - White Marsh to Downtown: This bus runs express between Downtown Baltimore and the White Marsh Park and Ride and the mall. Buses run peak only every 21 minutes, weekdays only.
  • 154 - State Center to Hillendale or Carney: This is a slightly express version of the 54 that runs peak only every 10-15 minutes.
  • 160 - Downtown to Essex/Whispering Woods: This is something like an express version of the 59. The 160 runs to Martin State Airport and Whispering woods three times a day, peak only, with three trips back, also peak only.
  • 163 - Tradepoint Atlantic to West Baltimore MARC: This bus runs express between West Baltimore and Sparrow Point, where the port of Baltimore is located. The 163 runs every 15 minutes.
  • 320 - Baltimore to Columbia: This commuter bus runs from Downtown Baltimore all the way to Columbia via I-95 and Route 1. The 320 runs about four round trips a day, weekdays and peak only.
  • 410 - Baltimore to Churchville: This bus runs from Baltimore north into Harford County, ending in Churchville. The 410 runs three round trips a day, weekdays and peak only.
  • 411 - Baltimore to Hickory: This bus runs from Baltimore to the Hickory Park and Ride, just north of Bel Air. The 411 runs three round trips a day, weekdays and peak only.
  • 420 - This bus runs from Baltimore to Havre de Grâce in four peak only round trips every weekday. On Fridays and holidays in particular, The 420 runs an extra southbound bus to Baltimore.
  • CityLink BROWN - UM Medical Center to Overlea: This bus runs via Lombard Street, Pratt Steeet, Belair Road among others to Overlea, just northwest of Baltimore proper. the CityLink BROWN runs about once every 15 minutes most of the day.
  • CityLink NAVY - Mondawmin to Dundalk: This bus runs between Mondawmin station and Dundalk via Lombard and Pratt streets as well as Eastern Avenue. The CityLink NAVY is more frequent than the BROWN, with service every 10 minutes most of the day.
  • CityLink YELLOW - Mount Vernon to Patapasco: This bus runs via Washington Boulevard to Halethorpe and Patapasco Light Rail station. CityLink YELLOW buses run every 12 minutes.
  • Charm City Circulator Orange Route - 33rd Street to Federal Hill: This bus runs via Lombard and Pratt Streets every 13 minutes. Unlike the rest of the buses, the Charm City Circulator is free.
