Station Review #171: Levittown - Tullytown Station (SEPTA)

Levittown - Tullytown is a station on SEPTA's Trenton Line, located in the borough of Tullytown, PA. Despite this, most people only call this station Levittown.

History

Tullytown was built in 1835 as part of the Philadelphia and Trenton Railroad. The same shelters were up as late as 1911, when the windstorm of 1911 possibly destroyed them. It's unknown what replaced the station afterwards, but a new, larger, station was built in 1953 to support the newly built community of Levittown. This newly built station lasted until about 2014, when it was torn down and replaced by a much better station that was actually accessible, this one built in 2017.

Tour

Outside of the station in the parking lot

Levittown is a very large station, and it's parking lot is similarly large. Considering how Levittown as a place is, this is an acceptable station to put lots of parking into.

Stairs and ramps

This station is fully accessible.

Map and waiting room

Inside the waiting room

There's a bathroom, water fountain, and seating here. No ticket office, however. Despite all of this, this waiting room still closes at 11:15 AM.

The ticket office booth

Funny fact, when I first noticed this, I snorted. I still chuckle every time I see this tiny ticket booth.

Train at the platform

This station has a full high level platform, unlike most Trenton Line stations.

Bus Connections

There are two bus connections at Levittown-Tullytown Station:

127 - Oxford Valley Mall to Trenton Transit Center: This is a bus that runs between Trenton and Oxford Valley. Bucks County via Levittown. Buses run about once every 90 minutes or so.

128 - Oxford Valley Mall to Neshaminy Mall: This bus runs between Oxford Valley Mall and Neshaminy Mall like the 14 does. the Main difference here however is that this bus goes via Levittown and Bristol. This turns whay would otherwise be a 30 minute trip into a 90 minute long trip. This bus also runs about every 90 minutes.

It's very likely that both of these buses will be replaced in this area with the SEPTA GO Bucks County microtransit Zones, the fates of which will be determined in FY 2028.

Points of Interest Near Levittown-Tullytown station

The two sides of Levittown-Tullytown station are very different. On one side is Levittown. There are a lot of difficult to cross stroads there, as well as a plaza with a Walmart in it. There's also a megachurch, a lot of houses, and a small lake there.

On the other side is Tullytown proper. Tullytown isn't all that dense itself, but it's one of the older types of railroad suburbs (as opposed to a streetcar suburb, which are similar but newer and often instead sprawl out further along the original routing of the streetcar/trolley line). This means that you can often find old, stately houses and mansions. Besides that, there's a park and a lake or two.
