Station Review #169: South Carolina Avenue At Atlantic Avenue (NJT)

South Carolina Avenue at Atlantic Avenue is a small bus terminal located at that aforementioned intersection in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Services

There are multiple NJT buses that stop here, these include:

  • 501: This bus runs from the Atlantic City Bus Terminal to Brigantine via Harrah's and Borgata Casinos. This bus runs about once every hour.
  • 502: This bus runs from here to Atlantic Cape Community College via Black Horse Pike.
  • 504: This bus runs from Margate to the North Side of Atlantic City via Ventnor Heights. This bus runs about every 40 minutes, and is a mess to look at on a map.
  • 505: This bus runs about once every 15 minutes between Venice Park, the Atlantic City Aquarium, and Longport via Atlantic Avenue. This bus is also a bit of a mess on a map.
  • 507: This bus runs from here to Ocean City, running a bus every hour or so.
  • 508: This bus runs from here to Hamilton Mall, similarly to the 502. The difference here is the 508 goes via Galloway
  • 509: This bus runs from here to Somers Point, serving the US route 9 corridor. This bus and the 507 are both timed to give an approximate 30 minute service interval between Atlantic City and Somers Point.
  • 554: This is the only regional bus NJT runs that goes to this station, and it essentially runs locally along White Horse Pike (US-30) all the way to Lindenwold station, deviating to every single Atlantic City Line station.

Tour

One of the shelters

This is every small NJT bus station ever.

Hostile benches

This station has several shelters, and they all look like this.

Park

The station immediately surrounds two sides of a park that seems to have no name. I have attempted to figure out to no avail what this place is called, and it seems that even local residents don't know this place's name.

Transit Connections

Nearby NJT bus

There are several buses that run nearby, most from ACJA. The most notable is the ACJA 3a jitney, which links Atlantic City train station with casinos along the boardwalk. You can catch this bus across the street from the AlantiCare HealthPlex hospital a few blocks away. It runs anywhere from a bus every 75 minutes ti every 110 minutes, and it's completely randim depending on what trip it is.

Points of Interest Nearby South Carolina Avenue at Atlantic Avenue/Atlantic City City Hall

There's the city hall itself, and the Atlantic City Circuit Court, as well as a few small parks and plazas. There's also some restaurants, stores, and the AtlantiCare HealthPlex, which is a hospital.
