Station Review #168: Union College (NJT)


Union College is a bus station ran by NJT that's located at the driveway of Union College of New Jersey, a college in Cranford, NJ. 

Services

  • 58 - Elizabeth-Kenilworth: This bus runs between Union College to Elizabeth via Broad Street and Westfield Avenue. On weekdays, this bus runs anywhere from every 20 minutes at peak times to about every 70 minutes otherwise. This is about as annoying as you'd expect it to be. 
  • 59 - Plainfield - Newark: This bus goes from Harriet Tubman Square in Newark to Dunellen via Elizabeth Avenue, Jersey Avenue, South Avenue, and more. More specifically, the route roughly parallels US-22. Trips to Union College roughly run every 50 minutes on weekdays, save for the 90 minute gap between 12:05 PM and 1:35 PM. 
  • 66m - Newark - Springfield - Union College: This is a variant of the 66 bus that runs from Newark Penn to Union College via Springfield, terminating at Union College. This bus sometimes runs with up to three hour gaps between trips. 
  • 66v - Newark - Union College - Mountainside - Vauxhall: This is a specific lettered variant of the NJT 66 bus, which normally runs entirely to Mountainside from Newark Penn station. This bus runs about hourly to every 90 minutes.

Union College

There's actually quite a bit. For example, Union College of New Jersey itself, a college campus that this bus station was designed to serve. Outside of that though, there's: a park named Nomahegan Park that has a playground and forest, a farmer's market, and some single family houses. I guess that's all something to serve.

The station is located at 5th and Walnut Street in North Wales, PA.  History It's unknown when the original North Wales station was built, but what is known is that the North Pennsylvania Railroad rebuilt it in 1873. Station Review #78: Cornwells Heights (Amtrak/SEPTA)

Cornwells Heights (pronounced and often misspelled as "Cornwell Heights") is a train station along the Northeast Corridor. The station is located at 700 Station Avenue in Cornwells Heights, PA, a CDP located within Bensalem, PA.  The station is mainly served by SEPTA's Trenton line. Despite this, three trips of Amtrak's Keystone Service stop at the station every day: 640 (7:02 AM), 649 (3:51 PM), and 655 (7:40 PM). Cornwells Heights is currently the least used Amtrak station in the state of Pennsylvania.  From Station Avenue to the edge of the park and ride, this station is about half a mile long.  History Despite how it is today, Cornwells Heights was not nearly as important as it is now for much of its existence. The first known iteration of Cornwells Heights station was built by the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1891. Station Review #120: Wayne (SEPTA)

Wayne is a station on SEPTA's Paoli-Thorndale line. The station is located at Station Road and Wayne Avenue in Wayne, PA. Wayne is a village located within Radnor Township, along Lancaster Avenue. Many people unfamiliar with the area tend to get Wayne and Wayne Junction stations mixed up.
