Station Reivew #140: Pennsauken/Route 73 (NJT)


Pennsauken/Route 73 is a station on NJT's River Line. The station is located at 9435 County Route 523 in the Delair neighborhood of Pennsauken, NJ.

Much of this station is a large parking lot, which is unsurprisingly empty. 

Unprotected crossing

There is no crossing light or any audible warning for any trains that may be approaching. This is the only way to or from the southbound platform. 

Bus Connections

There are two bus connections at Pennsauken/Route 73 station:

NJT 419 - Camden-Pennsauken Transit Center-Riverside: This bus essentially paralells the River Line, going along River Road/River Avenue. It connects to every River Line station south of Delanco. It runs hourly from 4 am to 7 pm, and bi hourly after that through the night

SJTA Pennsauken Light Rail Shuttle: This bus is meant to link this station to nearby businesses. I have absolutely no clue how this bus works. I originally visited here to try to ride it but it drove past me as though I wasn't there. 

Points of Interest Near Pennsauken-Route 73 station 

There's a pretty view! No seriously that's about it. 

What's actually nearby the station is a landfill, and you can smell it. This station entirely exists for the business park nearby it that you can't walk to. The idea is that the SJTA shuttlebus would pick you up, or you would carpool to your destination nearby, or drive in from along nearby NJ-73/PA-73 and take the River Line in to work.

Cornwells Heights (pronounced and often misspelled as "Cornwell Heights") is a train station along the Northeast Corridor. BARTA Transportation Center is a station in Reading, PA. The station is located on Franklin Street, near the old Reading Train station History The old station, now a brewpub and transportation museum There had been passenger rail service at Reading since 1871, when the Wilmington and Northern trains started stopping at a station on front and Penn Streets. Franklin Street station is the one pictured above. The original station at Franklin Street was constructed in 1884, and replaced by the Reading Railroad in 1930. This station was built as an infill for Downtown Reading, since the Reading Outer station was in the middle of the city.  The line changed owners many times until it eventually got to conrail, which allowed SEPTA service on the line. Station Review #73: Glenside (SEPTA)

Glenside is a station serving multiple SEPTA Regional Rail lines, located at Easton Road and Glenside Avenue in Glenside, PA.  History Glenside station was built in 1873 by the North Pennsylvania Railroad, one of the few original NPRR station houses to remain to this day. Just six years later, the NPRR was bought by the Philadelphia and Reading Railway, the predecessor to the Reading Railroad.
