Station Review #163: Eastwick (SEPTA)
Eastwick is a station on SEPTA's Airport Line. The station is located along Bartram Avenue near 84th Street in Philadelphia's Eastwick neighborhood. There were plans to rebuild that station and make an Eastwick Transit Center, extending the T5 to it. Considering the capital funds are being siphoned for operational expenses now, it's unknown if this will even happen.
Tour
Everything here is made out of wood. At least unlike Highland Avenue or County Line almost everything is on the ground or not all that far from it.
It brings me joy to think about how the map is basically zip tied to the fence.
I wonder if there's any space here to actually park cars. The actual parking lot is on the other side of the station, and it's extremely small.
Bus Connections
There are five bus connections at Eastwick station. These include:
37 - Chester Transit Center to Broad-Snyder: This bus runs along PA-291, linking South Philadelphia with the Airport, as well as running through Tinicum Township and past the Boeing plant into Chester. Buses run to the about every 25 minutes or so, staying consistent for much of the day. This bus runs 24/7, becoming hourly after 8 PM or so.
68 - Broad-Oregon to UPS/69th Street Transit Center: This bus is a roundabout bus made to serve the business parks around the airport rather than the airport itself. It runs about once every hour or so.
108 - UPS/Airport to 69th Street Transit Center: This bus links 69th Street Transit Center to the airport via Southwest Philadelphia and Yeadon. This bus is one of SEPTA's frequent buses, with buses running to 65th and Woodland in Elmwood Park from 69th Street every 15 minutes or so, and every thirty minutes past that to the airport. The 108 is somewhat windy, and goes along several roads that don't feel like they should have a bus running on them.
115 - Delaware County Community College/Darby Transit Center to Airport: This bus runs from the Airport to Darby Transit Center via several other nearby towns in Delaware County. On weekdays, most trips go along Lansdowne Avenue past Darby to Delaware County Community College. This bus generally runs about every 45-50 minutes.
PHL Airport Econopark Shuttle: This runs from the economy parking lot near the station to the airport itself. This runs about every 10 minutes all day, except for between 1 and 3 am, where it runs every 20 minutes instead.
Points of Interest Near Eastwick station
It's not absolutely nothing, but the situation is pretty bleak. There is a small amount of older stock low density housing nearby that predates Eastwick's urban renewal. Besides this, there is little else. There is the economy parking lot, but i don't know if you're even allowed to go in there without being in a car. Nothing has a sidewalk either and every road in the area is inherently hostile.
