Station Review #71: Crestmont (SEPTA)

Crestmont is a station on SEPTA's Warminister Line. The station is located at Rubicam Avenue in the Crestmont neighborhood of Abington, PA. Crestmont station is one of a few flag stops in the SEPTA network, with only a few trains a day making actual scheduled stops at Crestmont station.

History
Crestmont station was most likely built by the North Pennsylvania railroad along with the rest of the line to Hartsville sometime between 1872 and 1873. The old station in the image shown above was most likely a second iteration of the station built to replace the original station by the Reading Railroad. Sometime much later (most likely in the early 2000s), the old shelter was replaced by a newer shelter and platform that is more accessible.

Considering this is the Warminister line we're talking about, yeah you probably should look both ways before crossing

Crestmont station is a small station. The entire station itself is basically one concrete platform a shelter, and a few ramps.

Bus Connections

There are two bus connections at Crestmont station, these are:

Route 22: This bus goes from Olney Transportation Center to Willow Grove Mall and Warminister via Easton and York Roads (PA-263).

Route 55: This bus goes from Olney Transportation Center to Willow Grove and Doylestown via Old York Road and Easton Road (both PA-611).

Points of Interest Near Crestmont

There is not much of anything near Crestmont station besides houses and Rubicam Avenue Park, a local park. Crestmont as a neighborhood is relatively residential, with there not being much in the name of any form of commercial district in the neighborhood along Easton or Old York Roads, even though there are stores. Crestmont itself is not a very large neighborhood, sandwiched between Roslyn and Willow Grove (which is basically a different town entirely), so the amount of passengers any train station in crestmont can serve is not large, provided that either of the two places along the line next to it don't have their own train stations, which they do.
