Station Review #99: DeKalb Street (SEPTA)

King Ma- er I mean DeKalb Street is a station on SEPTA's P&W/route 100/Purple Line/Norristown High Speed Line/M line. The station is located on DeKalb Street in Bridgeport, PA, on the border with King of Prussia, in Upper Merion Township.

This station was originally named DeKalb Street, but its name was changed to King Manor, but in sometime around 2007 or so was renamed again to DeKalb Street.

Tour

The station itself

Much of the station itself is pretty standard for the M. This also means that the station is inaccessible despite having full level boarding. Making this station accessible would be very simple, there just need to be two new ramps to the station, alas that has not happened yet.

Parking

Considering the suburban nature of most of the M's service area, it's no surprise that many M stations have a parking lot. DeKalb Street is no exception to this rule. The parking lot seems pretty well used, albeit small.

Bus Connections

DeKalb Street is not completely without bus connections, there is one:

99: Phoenixville to Norristown Transportation Center

This bus links Phoenixville, Mont Clare,  Oaks (including the Expo Center), Audubon, King of Prussia, Bridgeport, and Norristown. The 99 bus runs once every hour past King of Prussia.

Points of Interest near DeKalb Street Station

There is little of note near DeKalb Street station. There are a few stores, but none are actually that interesting besides a Filipino grocery store.

Much of this station's draw is the location, it being near the spot where DeKalb Street merges off of DeKalb Pike. Because of this the station has ample parking.
